2 Book Reviews-Linda Gatewood's "Winter Secret Series"

Hello All,

A few weeks ago I posted my reviews of the first 2 books from Linda Gatewood's series, Winter Secrets.Today, I'm posting my reviews for the last 2 books, Summer Truth and Autumn Hush.

Summer Truth

Against all odds, the strength of their love kept them united in the first two exciting books, Winter Secret and Spring Promise, but can it survive the reality of the shocking truth revealed in Summer Truth? As a new season brings a new kind of obstacle to Derek and Cynthia, will their love continue to thrive?
The past that Cynthia shared with her ex-husband, the dishonest attorney Bradley Hunt, reaches out and ensnares her back into its fold. She becomes a scapegoat for his previous disreputable deeds in a dangerous race for her life that could ultimately separate her from Derek forever. As Derek's real identity begins to engulf him, he faces a destructive ancestral history full of intrigue, lies, and deadly deception. Can he meld with the past, or should he leave it behind? From the northern Rocky Mountains in Montana to the windswept hot sands of Nevada, the saga embraces others who are part of the mystery and will reveal more hidden secrets threatening the future that Derek and Cynthia so desperately want to preserve. When this season brings a new kind of menace, will their hopes for a lifetime together continue to be sustained, or will the appalling revelations of a summer truth destroy it all?
Summer Truth is the third book in the four-book Winter Secret series, each encompassing a season in the suspenseful lives of Derek Flynn and Cynthia Morrison.

My review: 4 out of 5 Stars.

“Summer Truth” is the third installment of Linda Gatewood’s “Winter Secret Series”. I have to admit, this was my favorite book out of the series. In “Summer Truth”, so many secrets come to light (hence the title). But it seems that with every truth, the puzzle grows and more and more pieces are still missing. I personally feel that Derek and Cynthia’s love grew the most in this book. Although from the very beginning of their relationship their love has been put to the test, this story demonstrated that their love would carry on, even if one of them should not make it. I also enjoyed the expansion of the other characters and the depths of their personalities helped make this book a great read. As like the two previous books, this installment had plenty of action, explosions, crashes, and dilemmas that will leave everyone needing to turn to page to see how the lovebirds and their friends make it through.
I received my copy of “Summer Truth” from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Autumn Hush

In the fourth and final book of the Winter Secret Series, the mystery and suspense from the previous books continues as the past finally engulfs Derek and Cynthia, consumes their future, and threatens to destroy the love they have struggled to keep. Will the Autumn season bring peace to them, or does it only harbor destruction and death?
The new adventure takes place in Derek's ancestral castle located high in the mountains of Montana. When he returns with Cynthia to reclaim his birthright, he is met by resistance from its inhabitants, who refuse to acknowledge his entitlement. The fortress hides many secrets behind its cold granite walls that could be the answers to all the questions. The seeds from the ruthless past are still alive after decades and are determined to keep all the secrets, no matter who must be sacrificed. As they face a horror never before known, the couple must choose between life and death before they can be free.
Autumn Hush is the fourth book in the four book Winter Secret Series, each encompassing a season in the suspenseful lives of Derek Flynn and Cynthia Morrison.

My Review: 4 out of 5 stars.

Autumn Hush, is book four of the “Winter Secret Series”. Before this book, Derek and Cynthia have experienced one adventurous year. From being shot at, kidnapped, wounded, drugged, arrested, hunted, and being accused of crimes they are innocent of committing, the two lovebirds finally are able to step into the life that Derek was born for. Or so they think. This story, unlike the other books, takes place in the castle built by Derek’s grandfather. The huge castle that was built into the side of a huge mountain in Montana holds many treasures and the truth to why Salazar, a once close friend to the Flynn clan, turned his back on the family. Yet, as Derek steps into his role as the heir to the Flynn Dynasty, he quickly finds out that Salazar isn’t his only enemy wandering the halls of his new home.
The flashbacks were the best part of the story for me. I loved seeing how the past, long before Derek was born, carved out his future. No matter how much his grandfather wanted to leave the regrets buried in the secret tombs of the mountain, Derek with the help of his wife, still need to overcome the past to make sure they could have the future that seems to always be just out of their grasp.
I feel this book was well written and Gatewood, has displayed her growth as a writer and how in-tune she has become with the Winter Secrets’ characters. Every page left you guess and wanted to know more about what made each character tick.
I received my copy of “Autumn Hush” from the author in exchange for my honest review.
