How's it been? I know it's been a while since I posted anything.
Well, I'm back and today I'd like to rant about one of my pet peeves. I'm not
sure if this bugs or maybe terrifies me more. When driving, nothing is more
alarming than when someone drives their car next to mine. We have all this room
on the road, usually plenty of space in front of and behind you. Why ride side
by side with another car if there's no need? Think about it. This, for so
many reasons is not safe. What if for some unforeseen reason you need to
swerve? That car that is riding right next to you is now in the way, too. The
object you might have been able to avoid is now crashing into your
windshield.
Okay, yes, you're right. There is the
possibility that if there is no car in the lane next to you and you have to
swerve that you won't end up careening into the path of a car (a safe distance)
behind you (or an oncoming car). But I'd like to think in that case, those
other drivers are as alert as I am behind the wheel, and can react to whatever
is in front of them (that is, if there is no car riding right next to them
too.) Sigh, this could be an endless cycle. (I'm hyperventilating just thinking
about it.) Huge car pileup just because someone decides to have a riding
twin.
And then, there are those cars that do not
ride fully next to you, but kind of sort of near the back (by your trunk).
Hello people, that, in most cars is a blind spot. I know in my car this is the
worst blind spot and if your puttering along trying to check out my car's trunk
and rear tires, I will not see you. Which means when I go to move over (Only
after I've been riding with my signal on, but since you're right next to my
flasher sightseeing, you don't see it...), I will most likely come very close
to if not sideswipe you. (On a funnier side, those are usually the car's that
blare their horn at you. Because you could really see them.) So freaking
frustrating, scary, and nerve-wrecking.
What do you think? Has this ever crossed your
mind? Is this one of your pet peeves?
